POLICY OVERVIEW

The Leadership recognises the need to provide a safe and caring environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults regardless of race, colour, sex, language or other status. They acknowledge that children, young people and adults can be the victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and neglect and need protecting.

Everyone at Hope Community Church shares a responsibility to care and protect children, young people

and vulnerable adults and to report any abuse discovered or suspected to the Safeguarding Coordinator

or Deputy Coordinator:  Lynnette Kemp email: Safeguarding@hccstives.uk

Deputy Coordinator: Carol Neve email: Secretary@hccstives.uk

The trustees have adopted the procedures set out in the safeguarding policy in accordance with statutory guidance and are committed to build constructive links with statutory and voluntary agencies. The policy and any attached practice guidelines are based on safeguarding standards published by Thirtyone:eight, a charity which provides training, consultancy, DBS services and a 24 hour helpline.

Trustees and Leadership team undertake to:

  • Endorse and follow all national international and local safeguarding legislation and procedures, including DBS checks for the Pastor, Leadership and all workers.

  • Provide on-going training for all its workers and will regularly review the operational guidelines.

  • Ensure that any premises used by our members meet the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and all other relevant legislation and that it is welcoming and inclusive.

  • Support the Safeguarding Coordinator(s) in their work and in any action they may need to take in order to protect children and adults with care and support needs.
